Lisa from the United Kingdom wrote:Hello! I love your site. I'm a fellow SBI'er and you asked for a review, but as I love cheesecake so much, I have been viewing without my SBI hat on. Amazing that you've done so much in sucha short space of time! Anyway... what is a Graham Cracker? What is the key ingredient? as I'd like to try a recipe, but don't know what I could buy here in the UK to substitute. Many thanks! All the best, Lisa x Lisa: Thank you so much for the compliment. I have been having a great time with the site and I am learning a lot. A graham cracker is a like a thin cookie made from whole wheat flour and graham flour. You can get them plain, honey, chocolate and cinnamon flavored. I actually did some research after I saw your question and I can't find a company that sells graham crackers or ready made graham cracker crusts in the U.K. One of the manufacturers in the U.S, is Nabisco which is a division of Kraft Foods. There are some Kraft products sold in the U.K. but I didn't see that graham crackers are one of them. From what I gather, a product you could use as a substitute is a digestive biscuit but it will be a little more crumbly and less sweet. I also found a recipe on the internet if you would like to try making your own. The
graham cracker
recipe is from Alton Brown.
Below is one of the ready to use graham cracker crusts available in the U.S. They come in various flavors also and I usually use them for
no bake cheesecake recipes.

The picture below is of two of the kinds of graham crackers available in the U.S...original and chocolate. Honey and cinnamon are also available. This will give you an idea of what they look like. Please contact me again if you have any more questions.

Tom from West Virginia said:"Have you ever heard of
Root Beer Cheesecake?
Someone told me about it but I have never had one. Have you had one and does it really taste like root beer? If you haven't made one or had one, maybe you know someone who has." Tom: I have never heard of it before you asked me. Click on the link above to see a recipe I found for one. Maybe someone who has tried one could contact me and let me know how it tastes.
Pierre from West Virginia wrote:Thanks for giving us a sample of your (soon to be world famous)
Red Velvet Cheesecake

Gary from Florida wrote:Hello Debbie it's me again. Years ago I stopped into one of those Diners In NJ and ordered a slice of NY Cheesecake. I liked the texture of it and have not found one like it my area, and I was hoping you could help me. Gary: There are many variations available on the New York style cheesecake. Each one varies from the other in small ways like ingredients, amounts, etc. Ricotta cheese makes the cheesecake with a little drier texture. Also, I think the ratio of sour cream to cream cheese helps to create the texture I think you are looking for. I have several recipes that I haven't posted yet that I think may be what you are looking for. Please keep checking back frequently to see new additions. I will be sure to email the link to you when it is posted.
Shannon from Wisconsin wrote:I am making a no bake cheesecake and wanted a frosting recipe that would work to do decoration for a birthday on it. Any help? Shannon: For no bake cheesecakes, the toppings I have seen or used are normally fruit or fruit topping, simple garnishes or plain. I had to do a little searching to find the answer for you and I hope this helps. First of all I don't know what kind of no bake cheesecake you are planning to make but you might want to try a melted hot fudge sauce put over top and chilled for several hours before decorating. Another option might be a whipped topping over it and then decorating. following is a recipe for whipped topping: 1/2 cup whipping cream 2 tablespoons granulated sugar Take a well chilled bowl and beat the whipping cream on medium speed with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Sprinkle the sugar over the whipped cream with the mixer still running and continue beating until the peaks are stiff. You can then spread this over the cake before decorating. If you decide to do a baked cheesecake, contact me and I can give you more options. Good luck with the cake and please let me know how it turns out.
Rujuan from Kenya wrote:I love a good cheesecake but I am only fortunate to have a taste when I travel. Do you Debbie, have a favorite? I savor the sweet flavor of grasshopper cheesecake. Not really grasshoppers! I bet that surprised you. I first tried this about 5 years ago when I visited the beautiful country of Denmark. I think it is a local favorite. I have sincesampled it in several other countries. I would like to know if you have this recipe and if you do, you will make me the happiest man in the world! That is true. I will have my housekeeper make it for me immediately. Never could Iimagine that someone would make a website on the world wide web about cheesecake. You are a baker? Rujuan
Rujuan: Thank you for the submission to my Contact Me page. No, I'm not a baker but I enjoy finding and trying new recipes. I like to make cheesecakes for family and friends to see how they like them also. I really don't have a favorite because every time I try a new flavor, it becomes my favorite at that time! Currently some of my favorites are
Banana Cheesecake,
Fudgy Caramel Cheesecake
and
Snickerdoodle Cheesecake
to name a few. There are so many great cheesecake recipes available that it's difficult to narrow the list down to a particular favorite. After I heard from you, I was talking to my friend Candee and told her which recipe you were looking for. She excitedly told me that she had just found a recipe for
Grasshopper Cheesecake
and she was wondering if I had ever heard of it or tried it. I told her I hadn't but it sounds delicious. If you use this recipe, I would love for you to contact me again and let me know how it turned out. I hope to hear from you again.
Cindi from Indiana wrote:I had problems bringing up some of the recipes. I'm wanting the recipe with the Reeses on top. That's my boyfriend's favorite candy bar. Thank you, Cindi
Cindi: A lot of people contact me to ask how to make that cheesecake. That topping can actually be used with almost any recipe. I have suggested making the
Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake
but you could use the
Plain Cheesecake,
Ultimate Chocolate Cheesecake,
or almost any recipe you choose. To do the topping like on the picture, just take melted chocolate and spoon it around the edges of whichever cake you decide to make and press peanut butter cups (that have been cut in half) into the melted chocolate. I am eventually going to start a page on different toppings for cheesecakes and will include this in that section because I have said, many people want to know how to make it like that. I was happy to hear from you and I hope you contact me with any more questions you may have. Good luck with the cheesecake. Let me know how your boyfriend likes it!
